Application Guidelines

The Foundation's Board meets in May and November of each year to consider grant requests. Proposals can be submitted at any time but must be received by April 1st for consideration at the May meeting and October 1st for consideration at the November meeting.

Prior to submitting a full proposal, particularly for applicants that the Foundation has not previously supported, it is requested that applicants submit a letter limited to two pages summarizing the request. The letter should include a brief description of the organization and its purpose, the project for which funding is requested, the total cost of the project, and the amount being requested. This preliminary request should include a copy of the Internal Revenue Service letter which attests to the organization's tax exempt status and classification as "not a private foundation", and a list of the officers and members of the organization's governing body. Other donors and the amounts contributed should be provided and if a matching grant from another foundation is involved, this should be noted.

If the Foundation determines that additional consideration of the request is appropriate, additional information may be requested including:

History and overview of the organization and its programs
Operating statements and financial audits
Detailed overview of the program or purpose of the request, and its impact on those served by the organization
Project cost, timetable, and funding commitments received to date
Strategic relationship of the request to the organization's mission

Applicants will be notified shortly after a decision has been made on a proposal. Funds are generally disbursed at the end of each calendar year. Periodic updates during a project or at its completion may be requested.
